Wechsler Wins CNY 9-Ball Tour Stop

Lyn Wechsler finished ahead of the field at the CNY 9-Ball event.
Lyn Wechsler completed an undefeated weekend at the CNY 9-Ball Tour the weekend of November 22-23. He gained the hot seat with relative ease but found himself embroiled in a serious struggle in the finals against a determined one-loss side opponent, Jared Zimmerman. The $430-added, A-B handicapped event drew 48 entrants to Hippos House of Billiards in Yorkville, NY.
Wechsler started his last two steps to the finals with a 7-3 win over Mark Eisland, as Ed Yero was battling through a double-hill struggle against Ryan Lewis. Wechsler duplicated the 7-3 win against Yero to gain the hot seat.
In the meantime, Zimmerman was on the comeback trail from the one-loss side. From among the final 12, he defeated Joe Giancarelli 7-4 and Dave Ricci 7-5 to face off against Eisland. Gary Lloyd, after defeating Mike Donnelly 7-5 and Frank Wolak 7-2, joined him to face Lewis. Lloyd shut Lewis out, as Zimmerman was defeating Eisland 7-3. Zimmerman reached the semifinals with a 7-3 victory over Lloyd and the finals with a 7-3 victory over Yero.
Zimmerman almost got himself into a second set in the true double-elimination final, forcing the match to hill-hill. Wechsler hung on to win it, however, capturing the first-place prize.
